As a New Zealander I find this appalling… I just want it heard that we aren’t all ‘crazy’ or ‘idiotic’, like everywhere we have our special few people that manage to make headlines and bring shame to our little country.

Thats ok, I get you. Hey, I call on New Zealanders all the time, I’m just saying the way it was worded it seemed like you were being offensive, because sometimes Americans are rude towards people that aren’t American, but you’re obviously not like that, so its alright!

Sally- I apologize if you are offended but my calling it idiotic had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that this story occurred in New Zealand or near Australia. If this happened around the block from my home, in America I still would have called it idiotic. It wasn’t amusing or funny to me. It was absolutely ridiculous.

I’m Australian, and I have to admit I found a twinge of offense with you calling it idiotic. It makes sense to me, if he really does look like Coltrane. I would retaliate by saying Americans are idiots, but their not. I just wish you guys weren’t so offensive to somethings. You can have said it was just a funny fact, not idiotic.

Kind of political correctness & sensitivity run amuck, isn’t it? We can’t actually show you the picture of the suspected thief but we have no trouble showing you a picture of someone who is clearly innocent. Oh, we’ll just add a disclaimer, though, so that if Robbie Coltrane happens to be in Auckland this week people don’t start reporting him to the police. But if he looks like the thief or the thief looks like him, how will people know?

If they catch the thief, I think he & his family will be more concerned with that than with a sketch of him put up around the country. Oh my…
