Glad you guys liked the shortbread. Was there really a break between the fans? I dipped in and out all over the place having fun. I went to some serious lectures and some more fandom stuff too. I loved Portus!!!!!! I wanted to meet lots of people (which I did). I wasnt too worried about going to many presentations because I was going to get the recordings of them. Many of the ones I wanted to attend were at the same time. Unfortunately the people who recorded the CDs didnt turn up on Sun so I will have to pay more and download them here. Travis - great presentation, will be looking at some Lovecraft stuff in the next few weeks. Hey y’all

Turns out we had been on the exact same planes on the way TO Portus also. Crazy. Shirls- I started listening right after I read the first four (I think in 2001). I fell in love with the audio books because I love accents, I love Jim Dale's accent, and I am an extremely auditory learner. I know the books as well as I do because of the audiobooks. I haven't heard anyone speak so obsessively...I guess since I was obsessed with Kevin Smith who played "Ares God of War" on Xena. I think, on the merits of the conference alone, I enjoyed it more than Prophecy last year. Of course, that could be that I was buried in my room working on my presentations last year... Someone on the plane on the way home said that she didn't like Portus much at all, that Prophecy was way better, etc. There's definitely quite a break between the "academics" among us and the "fandom" folks when it comes to what makes a good conference.
