This appeared in a survey I took from Borders Books. It seems that it might be some kind of Half Blood Prince Promotional poster which will grace the cover of the book once the movie comes out. What are your thoughts?

What do you think? Could this be the new Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince movie poster? (Hat tip to Bill)

I’ve seen something similar to this poster before, but it claimed to be the official movie poster. It had that same green tint with Harry and Dumbledore in the background. I’m starting to think posters that look like this are legit, but where they’ll appear, I have no idea.
I like it, but I don’t think it will be the movie poster. The HP movie posters I’ve seen usually have a bunch of characters on them in their heroic poses and stuff.

ive been listening to ur progs since ep 20 using my PSP. the poster is good but the thing is that its kinda boring without characters on it. for your patterns episode try talking about small rolls became big rolls like the story of longbottom

I think it looks like a very good photoshopped movie poster that they made to create interest.
I don’t think this is real because it doesn’t follow any movie poster structure that they’ve been chugging out for the last 5 movies. Honestly for almost all the movie posters usually have harry in the middle with hermione and ron on either sides looking alert or scared or whatever they feel is “in character”, and a few other main characters in the scene too. They have followed this format for so long that as soon as you see it you know its a harry potter movie. Also if someone were to see the poster I think they would be kind of confused, because it doesn’t look like anything harry potter related and they’d probably be like “what the heck, why is that stupid green bird bath on a harry potter movie poster?”

I could see this being a book cover for a soft cover book after the movie comes out. I don’t know whether it would be used as a poster on its own because of the lack of characters on it. I love the quote across the top of it. If it is used as a cover I think I may have to buy another copy of HBP.

Its pretty good. It would be cool though, if it was the movie poster to have some people in it, but still looks great I would get it.

Yeah, there’s no way that’s real, looks like fan art. Although it does include my favorite quote from the books

If this is the movie poster, I think that it is great and a tribute to the book fans. As Sarah said, it doesn’t follow what WB has churned out (there are no characters pictured), but perhaps they are trying a different take?

The phrase is reminiscent of what God told Joshua in the scriptures. Also reminiscent of what Jesus told his disciples in the New Testament. It’s as though DD is being set up as a Christ figure. That doesn’t seem correct, if I remember the story.

I also agree that it is a book cover that will be released at the same time as the movie. It says, “Now A Major Motion Picture.” Most books released during a movie will have that on the cover. I think it is very cool and my almost 9 year old son wants it if they have a poster version for his room.

i think if they wanted to due “Now A Major Motion Picture” covers of the books they should have started at the beging of the movies. but the picture is cool and would love to have it as a poster

Well folks, it ain’t fan art unless it is fan art done by Borders. Came from one of thier book/movie surveys. I assume since Penny has it she took the survey too. I am the one that posted the survey link in the first place. Andrew Hoogerhyde I can tell you that I DIDN’T photoshop it and it is not something done by a fan Might be a book promo because it came from Borders. Thaat actually sounds reasonable if it is a part of a book promo they plan when the movie comes out. If it is still active, the link for the survey is http://surveys3.whoisq.com/Q_0094_7

The email I received from Borders said it was only good for three days. I’ve been too busy and wasn’t going to participate… Then I saw Penny’s post and was dying to see the HBP poster… of course, it was too late by then. The link was dead. :-/ Bummer.
Penny, Can you describe the survey a little more? Do you remember specifically what it asked for that image?
Just curious,

OH MY GOSH I just finished reading HBP about an hour ago (for only my first re-read–can’t believe how much I missed the first time around!) and that was one of my favorite favorite lines (along with the phrase “*his* headmaster”). Can’t wait to hear your podcast on book 6–I haven’t been listening because I wanted to read first.
