Status of Episode 72
Hey everyone. We are a bit late on episode 72, we plan on putting it up tomorrow evening (March 10). Just to give you a preview, we are taking a break from Patterns in Potter this week. We interviewed Dr. Jeffrey Rudski about Harry Potter Addiction. The interview was quite eye-opening. The rest of the episode will be voicemail and comment full. Stay tuned….
UPDATE: This is Penny. The episode is finished. I even wrote up the episode blurb with the news. The problem is that I am trying to edit it on this new computer (and you will have a good laugh when you listen to the episode and hear me RAVE about the computer) and I am deleting things right and left because honestly, GarageBand is one of the suckiest programs to edit things in. Ever. I am so frustrated that I need to give it a rest. Unfortunately for you that means that the episode will probably not be up until tomorrow evening. I really do apologize.
UPDATE 2: This is Penny again. I am writing from the insane asylum. That is where they put me after I left the Apple Store tonight after being there for an hour and a half and actually stumping the “geniuses” there who teach the 1:1 classes. (But I do have to give a shout-out to Ryan at the Apple Store, thanks for your time and patience.) You would think that I haven’t been editing podcasts for a year and a half. You would think this was the first time I’ve done this. I am unbelievably frustrated and for the second night in a row unfortunately I have to stop before I give you anything- alas, I have work tomorrow and if I keep on dealing with the mess of editing this, I will never get to bed and the patients who are already dealing with traumatic brain injuries will be that much more damaged when I fall asleep on their beds. So, once again, please bear with me. I will do my best to continue the editing process when I get home from work tomorrow. Thank you so much for your understanding.

I can’t wait! I am interested to see if Harry Potter addiction is another of my make believe problems!

I sure do hope that you are fully aware of the consequences of denying us addicts our hpprogs fix for another 24hrs….

Penny,
Have you ever tried Wavepad. It has both a free version & a purchase version. I’ve been using the free version for a couple of years & it seems to work fine for me editing mp3’s. When I switched to Linux, I tried using Audacity but talk about a counter intuitive program! Fortunately, I’ve got Wavepad working under Linux. But if you’re still trapped in a Microsoft world, Wavepad is native for that OS. Just a suggestion.

Eh? I’m sure you will get it up. This is supposed to be a fun thing not a burden so be practical and I have no complaints. Now on the darker side this definately gives Greg a competitive edge on you. I bet he could have had it up last week. ( That was a joke btw)

I’m starting to shake. I think it’s cause I haven’t had my dose of hpprogs. Joking. Don’t push yourself to put it up . But it had better be extra good!

Don’t stress yourself out over it. It’ll get up when it gets up. I’m sure it’ll be extra good, right?

I have a question about sending in the voice comments: When we call the number you listed for wherever we live, what happens? Does it get sent straight to you or can we listen to it to make sure it’s right before we send it in?

Is it odd that as soon as this comes out I’ll voluntarily be listening to my father? And to think most times I attempt to avoid him…

By the way, I second wavepad. It works really well for me and is very easy to use. I actually record in wavepad and then edit in mixpad. It is possible to get both of them for free:)

Rosie,
enclosed are instructions from St. Mungo’s which usually help me:
1) try ‘finite incantatum’ just to make sure you are not experiencing after effects of some unknown hex
2) if that does not help periodically try ‘impedimenta’ to keep the shaking under control
3) if the shaking becomes severe you may need to ’stupefy’ yourself until the hpprogs fix can be delivered. Caution: if you are in possesion of the Elder wand and are its rightful owner you may not be able to directly ’stupefy’ yourself. in that case you will need to simultaniuosly perfom both a verbal ’stupefy’ and a nonverbal ‘expelliarmus’ (or vice versa) to effectively cause your own ’stupefy’ to backfire on yourself
as you all can see i’m personally suffering from a bad case of Jelly-Brain jinx….

I definetly would have had it done by now. You can’t fault Penny, though; she’s working on a Mac, which is an inferior platform.

Hey !! I object to that remark !

Okay, first of all: Macs smile down on Windows and PCs from the slim, shiny, matte-chrome-plated hills of acheivment.
Second of all, GarageBand happens to be a pretty weak, frustrating program. I don’t do much editing, but when I do, it’s a major trial.
Third of all, Mugglenet is reporting that a two-part Deathly Hallows may be confirmed, which I think is brilliant.

Penny’s update post is hilarious! I laughed out loud. I’m sorry you’re experiencing so much frustration, though. Go easy on yourself…

Deep breaths Penny, deep breaths.
Remember, when everything is so frustrating, Lost comes on tomorrow =D

The first thing I check when I get home from school is HP Progs. How sad. xD Calm down and take deep breaths. I’d rather have you out of the asylum than the episode. (Though the actual episode comes in a close second!) I’ll just keep stalk– I mean checking! — the website. This’ll also give me time to catch up on my Hogs Head listening.
P.S. If anyone saw my above question and could answer, that’d be great!

Annie: when you call, it will give you options. When you are done recording you press pound I think. Just listen and it will tell you.
