Hey guys. Great podcast as always! Penny was talking about the classic Hermione quote after the Midnight Duel incident. I'll just confirm that it IS in the book on page 162. (paperback) That's one of my favorite quotes in the book. And I have to agree with everything you said about Hermione's transformation through out the books. I liked the discussion on the rules and how confusing they would be for Harry.

Great episode. I kept saying, "Yes, excellent. That's good stuff," as I listened. I might try to get an mp3 to you (I'll be recording my next podcast tomorrow, so if I have time after I finish, I lay down a quick clip to send to you). When is the deadline for getting you a clip?

Great to have the both of you back!!!

I think this maybe redundant but... one pattern that has begun with the first book is this idea of choice. Since the trio are all away at school, they have now more than ever had the ability to make a choice. I know Greg really hashed this idea out over the podcast but I think there are so many ways in which we see how the trio decide what is good or bad choices.

I am looking forward to hearing the rest of the series!

Thanks!

There is a really good Fanfic at Fanfiction.net. I would say it is a very good peace of work go to search, change the option from search for author to search for title and type in: A Different Road. It is a Harry Slytheren fic and is one of the best I've ever read. The author wrote the second book and working on a third one (no Harry/Draco or Harry/Snape).

Just a thought on the whole Sorty deal

If Harry had been in Slytherin, a lot of things would have stayed the same. Keep in mind, his friendships with Ron and Hermione had already started on the train, and his hatred for Draco as well. He probably would have been the only Slytherin in history to befriend half the Gryffindor house. :]
I think he would have made "friends" with Draco in time, but it wouldn't have been the same deep friendship that he would share with other people, probably because he wouldn't have the same morals as him.

Just my two cents.

I haven't been able to listen to the rest of the podcast yet, since my mom isn't as much of a Harry Potter fan as I am, but I'll definately listen to it soon. :]

Signed in to say Welcome Back! I have to agree with Penny about Disney - I am not into the whole Disney thing but while there felt the need to buy a crown and was treated like royalty - who can argue with that? (Even wore it to work the first day back.)

Enjoyed the episode - will TRY to send an MP3.

As far as the above - I read a Draco gets sorted into Ravenclaw that I enjoyed immensely - mainly because the author tied in so many canon details - with a twist. I hope you won't be too disappointed if it turns out that this is not the 1 or 2.

lalala- I am pretty sure there are a bunch of fanfics dedicated to "what if Harry had been sorted into Slytherin". I am sure you can find some interested ones (and perhaps 1 or 2 of them won't be Harry/Draco slash).

i just had a thought when you guys were discussing Sorting. I know this would never happen or else the entire series would be completely different (maybe), but what if Harry was placed in Slytherin? Would Snape's attitude toward Harry change? I've never entertained that possibility in my mind so it was an interesting thought for me.
