I'm in Cecil County just over the Delaware line....I love you guys, keep up the great work. Out of all the HP podcasts I was listening to, I now listen in this order..HP Progs, PotterCast, Hogs Head.

Mrs. Lovegood, I listen while walking too and feel you about the laughing and exclaiming to yourself!

Greg, LEAVE PENNY ALONE!!

The most entertaining part of the podcast was the HP puzzle that SHE presented. The Star Wars nonsense was beneath you.

Mrs. Lovegood- thanks to your comment I had to go back and listen to the podcast (which I NEVER do). FYI, we will be addressing this whole me as a star wars fan thing in the next episode.

J. Lynn- where in MD are you? Thanks so much for introducing yourself!!

Loved your anniversary podcast...I have listened for almost the whole year but have never commented. You are by far the best HP podcast out there right now! Without you and the Hogs Head, don't know what I'd do. Always good for intelligent conversation and a few laughs on the ride to work. By the way...I loved the cricket in the backgound of this one. I kept thinking...is that a cricket I'm hearing...I'm in the car...yes...it's on the podcast...no can't hear they're talking...my goodness yes that is a cricket.

I'm in MD too and they're singing very loudly right now...night music!

Mrs Lovegood, you are very brave. Even I left the Starwars fan girl thing alone. ( even though I laughed so hard I almost passed an entire chlli-dog through my nose.)
I dunno Greg that whole Smurfette thing was somewhat odd , you must admit.

Greg and Penny,

I want to thank you for causing me to be totally humiliated during my morning walk today. The Penny-is-not-a-Star-Wars-fan bit had me cracking up. Walking along by myself, laughing out loud and shouting out random words such as "nine hundred" and "Bespin!" (I put in the exclamation point because I couldn't believe Penny didn't know it. I actually said that one several times).

The street I walk on is normally mostly deserted in the morning, with most people at work. Today they must all have taken the day off today so they could be home to see me laughing to myself.

Thanks for a great podcast!

Well I definately like Remus Lupin much better in the HP series than in Basic Instinct 2. Has to be one of the worst movies mostly because of an unfulfilled potential. I can say I don't harbor quite the same animosity as Greg tward the prequil Star Wars episodes. I actually enjoyed the cartoon ones better. Same with the Hobbit series. Wonder if there will be a HP cartoon series? I would think a TV series is inevitable. Still which is worse ewokes or smurfs?

Hey I just had a thought completely off track to any of the discussion. For the opening scene of book 7 in the film, do you reckon they will do a last supper type reference with Snape on VM's right as his right hand man but leaning away from him as to show his betrayal to the death eaters. Must see if I can do a photo shop of that.

Tabetha/Jimi: I think they got the shabbiness part right, I just pictured Lupin as a conventionally handsome guy who's run down on his luck. David Thelis, while memorable for his roles in such films as The Big Lebowski, is not what I'd call traditionally handsome. This is just my opinion, anyhow.

Jim Dale does his best, but yeah, his Ginny is a man, baby!

I just listened to the podcast, and Remus Lupin isn't that bad a casting pick for the movies. The biggest miscast is Jim Dale doing Ginny Weasley, and making her sound like a man!

Hey,
I just wanted to respond to your comments about the actor who plays Remus Lupin. In Prisoner of Azkaban he is described on page 93 as: "wearing an extreemly shabby set of wizards robes" and as "ill and exhausted"

Well I was rebuilding my computer due to a catosphic hard drive failure and thus redownloaded all the episodes of this podcast. Since Greg said that they are all pretty good I let them play while I worked. So much information has been made available by Jk Rowling since she is no longer worried about spoiling the story it confounds the mind and answers many of our past prognostications. One good example was the death of Lupin and Tonks. In the book it was left very open. No details other than they died but JK Rowling has revealed that Lupin was killed by Dolohov and Tonks by Bellatrix Lestrange. Evidently she pruned the family tree before Molly Weasley showed her how to be a real woman. Many other things are out there like the trios professions as adults. The fact that the Malfoys were not prosicuted. That George indeed has a son named Fred and is getting along fine. Just loads of stuff she speaks openly about. As far as the themes of the books go Greg I would follow your first instinct. I don't see it falling together in a nice neat package. At the risk of sounding sexist I would say that this is a wonderful story written by a talented imaginative woman, but like any woman I have met she was prone to change her mind about things and probably will never be rationally understood. I mean that in a good way, really. Keeps things interesting you know. Ok so now that I have put my foot in my mouth did anyone else see the Family Guy Starwars episode? It was top notch!

Hyborean Age diplomacy is of course what Harry Potter needed. Not a wand of hawthorne or holly but a sword of cold steel empowered by the fierocity of Crom! Voldemorte was a weak fool that talked to much and fought to little. Me thinks a bar wench Hermine should have replaced the butterbeer and served the warriors grog instead. Witchcraft and magic are but the tools of those too weak to weld a proper weapon and none thus far have proved immune to a good sharp blade. The smell of blood and battle does honor to the fallen and in the end there is only good women, good drink and the dead do not partake. More for me. I really should get some sleep. See what you are missing Michal?

"Free from the constaints of morality!" I Love it!

Congratualations, Guys! A great accomplishment. I know I - who rarely posts a comment - listen faithfully every week. I am sure many more do than you can realize. Thank you for you dedication to the fandom!!

(No Aaron, I have not read Conan. I only know about it because my former obsession with Wheel of Time rivals Greg's with Star Wars :-))

Happy Anniversary!! I too really appreciate all the time and effort you put into the show. Actually you guys have now become the only HP podcast I religiously listen to, the others have just lost their sparkle compared to you.

*toddles off to download*

Wow Happy anniversary guys. I still maintain that it is the warmth you share that makes this feel more like a friendly visit than a podcast episode. Many kudo's to Greg and his fearless venture into Wizard Rock or Wizard Blue Grass as the case may be. Can hardly wait until Penny is singing along with you. I would actually like to thank you both for taking the time and having the dedication to have made it this far. You have most definitally given much joy and incite to my entire family. I will comment further on the prognostications after a little rest. One question is burning in my mind is has Michal actually read Conan? Oh well off to some Aquilonian dreams.
