Hey everyone, I want you all to read this essay I had to write in english class about “my favorit book series”
    MY SEVEN MAGICAL SUMMERS

It all started in the summer of 1998. Every summer before this I played video games or watched TV. Or some such other monotonous thing. Every summer I did the same things and so I tried to come up with something else that could occupy me. I never had a love for reading, I could never sit down and enjoy a good book, but O my was that about to change!
As I said before, it all starts in the summer of 1998. I was told by my vision teacher at the time to read a book called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone I said sure I would give it a tri. As I put in the first CD of this supposed great book I was thinking how stupid the title was and how long the book was over 300 pages! All I can say is never judge a book by it’s cover. The book was simply unbelievable, I had forgotten how long it was I just kept listening till the very end. The book had an amazing plot line and the Author J.K. Rowling is in my eyes a genius with a pen and paper. No longer was my summer boring, no longer did I think that books were boring. On the contrary I couldn’t wait until the sequel that was do out next summer.
When next summer came around I was so enthusiastic when I bought the next novel I didn’t even care that it was a good 100 pages longer than it’s predecessor. I tore in to it like a pack of dogs in to there dinner. Once again the plot was fantastic and the detail put in to the book was such that I could picture every moment. Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets surpasses its fellow book in the mystery of the plot and the length. When I read the first book I listened to it straight through, that is to say I did not stop for the 6 hours it took to read it. The second book took me 9 hours, the approximate time was, you guessed it! 9 hours. When the third book, Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban came out that same year it was noticeably darker and the age range went from 9-12 to 11-12. Of coarse the book was longer then Chamber of secrets topping out at 441 pages. Although the book on CD was 12 hours long I read straight through.
In the new millennium Harry Potter and the goblet of fire was releced and even though I was use to the books getting longer, I couldn’t believe how long this one was, 734 pages! As this book begins you can see right away that the book is for young adults. By this time in the Potter series almost every single reader was comprised of adults. A pole was taken that’s how I no this. As with all previous Harry Potter novels I listened to this one straight through it took me 21 hours. It would be another three years before the next book, Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix came out. I never stopped wondering why it was taking so long to come out. I soon found out why, the book was 870 pages! This was getting a little out of hand now, I thought My tradition of reading the books straight through would be broken on this one, I did not think I could listen for 27 hours straight, but I did just that. You can call my reading of the sixth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the half-blood Prince an adventure because I read it in Mexico during Hurricane Emily witch was a category 4. As ocean water came through hour hotel door I listened to the book. This book was only 655 pages long and 19 hours on CD, and yes I did read straight through, note that the hurricane was 25 hours long. The seventh and final book in this unbelievable series came out last summer. It had everything I hoped it would have, it answered every question I had. Although this book, Harry Potter and the deathly hallows was just 784 the second longest in the series it was still 29 hours long, and before you ask, I read it straight through. I was tired like you wouldn’t believe but I made it through the night and day.
I’m sure now, you are thinking I have to read this series! Every person who loves reading, or who doesn’t like reading, will love every minute of the wonderful world of Harry Potter. As you read these books, the pages will just keep on turning until the very end.

  8. Mrs. Lovegood Says:

I hope people will send in entries for the book. It will be really exciting if we hear back from Jo saying that she read them.

Potters number one fan, are you sending your essay to be part of the book? You should, you could re-write the beginning or add to it, to make it into a letter to Jo.

  9. Michal Says:

Guys, by the way– the response has been AWESOME, we have more than 20 letters! So if you haven’t submitted yet, please do so! It doesn’t have to be perfect, just put your thoughts down, scan me a photo, sketch something… Trust me, if what I have now is any judge, it is going to look amazing.

  10. Potters number one fan Says:

I no my spelling sucks, I don’t no why but I think it’s because I have a vision problem and I can not see out of one eye and I can only see shapes out of the other, I have a hard time pictureing how words look. Anyway here is my final draft of the essay.
