Status of Episode 45

We hope to get episode 45 up sometime tonight or early tommorow morning. Sorry for the delay- we’ve recorded about 1/2 of the episode but we have some extra people in our home (my sister is doing construction, has no a/c and she, her husband and 2/4 kids are staying here) and people keep coming in and out- with noise, so we haven’t been able to finish recording. Thanks for your patience…

Penny:)

Ok, that’s fine. I wouldn’t have been able to download that anyway…I JUST, yesterday, was able to download everything that I missed from Mugglecast and y’all. Just so you know, I listened to y’all’s first. But anyway, today was the first day of school for my county. Also, the first day that I have gone to middle school. 6th grade. Wowzers. I LOVE middle school. Yay. My schedule is awesome. BUT my school was opened last January, and it’s K-8. So, I don’t have to get to know a whole new school, thank God. And its very new and…updated…and shiny…and not overcrowded, like my old school. My old school was like, 800 kids to 3 grades. Wowzers. And it was over 15 years old and had bad computers. And I know everyone in my classes, since everyone split and there are not a lot of 6ths greaders. Only like 80, and it’s a large halway for 6th.

Anyways…the heat went up to 112 at my school today. WOWZERS!!!!! So…HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoy grilled corn, Aaron. And some cheesecake, too.

And also…just remembered…are y’all planning on doing the minor characters ‘cast? Ever? Well, unlike some people, I MUST listen to all episodes in order before I can listen to the most recent. I’ve already gone through all the episodes 3 times, and I’m doing it again, and I just came to the “rating the books” podcast, and you said you would. No biggy though. If you don’t, then you just don’t. And, well, you know, nobody really (most) of the minors really did anything. I betcha, since Colin Creevry never really made a huge role in the movies, (a little in 2), that Nigel will die in his place at the battle. (Nigel????)

I think you should let the visitors in on the podcast. That would be fun. We don’t care if it makes it extra long.

I don’t know about cheesecake, but I’m eating some great ice cream called Peanutbutter Pandamonium. Need I say more?

Very intense episode! I really REALLY enjoyed it! I had always wondered why some of the deaths of these characters were somewhat vague in the details. For me Dobby was very heart wrenching because we saw him die after being so heroic! What courage he had to return to the place of his enslavement and abuse. Even with Belatrixes knife in his chest he was so proud to have suceeded in his rescue. Dobby’s last words were Harry Potter and never had that name meant as much to me as it did there. We have just so much left to our imagination when it comes to the other heros. Almost as if we were being numbed by the violence and sacrifices. Belatrix was told to prune her family tree so I felt she was responsible for the deaths of Tonks and Lupin but then so many of the final duels were not who I thought it would be. I was looking for a werewolf vs werewolf battle between either lupin or Bill vs Greyback. I thought Neviell was the sure pick to wipe out Bellatrix in some dramatic fashion. So many others that was not what I expected. The signifacance of the destuction of the Horecruxes being spread out among the students is key to showing Harry was not alone and his realization of this. I am looking forward to listening to your future podcast even more now as it has helped me understand and enjoy this book as much as possible. Thanks so much. I voted on podcast alley. I can’t believe Vegan lovers is in front of this fine show!

Your not just for Kids. I have listened to Harry Potter podcasts since early 2006. I found you guys at episode 25. I love books (all about cannon), and the movies are fun but the intelligence and depth of the fandom tops the cake for me. As a mother of two I love to escape to HP and even share it with others. It sounds like the conventions are the best place to explore it all. Keep up the good work. You make my days at work much more enjoyable. Keep up the Ravenclaw wit!!

The death of Fred, Lupin and Tonks were all three horrible, but I did think they were realistic. Not everyone in war gets a “moment of glory” sometimes walls fall on them, sometimes we never really know what happens. JKR putting those realities in the book, I thought was brave. We all knew that all of the Weasleys wouldn’t survive the war; it just would not be realistic, and JKR would not have been true to the rest of the series. If it had been Charley, or Percy we would not have grieved so much, but that would have not forced us to feel along with the characters. From a literary standpoint Lupin and Tonks were doomed. Poor Teddy had to grow up an orphan. In the epilogue he is the “Harry” that grew up an orphan, but loved. The orphan who didn’t have the weight of the wizarding world on his shoulders. He is healthy, connected to a loving family, and pursuing love himself. There is hope.

I have been listening for a few months now. I have looked up a couple of the people you mentioned from your Prophecy recap. Thanks for the recomendation!
