It is official!!!!!!!!!!!!JK Rowling has updated her website to announce that the official release date for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be on Saturday July 21st 2007 at 00:01 BST and at 00:01 in the USA.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be published on Saturday 21st July 2007 at 00:01 BST in the UK and at 00:01 in the USA. It will also be released at 00:01 BST on Saturday 21st July in other English speaking countries around the world.More info on the scholastic website.
There is a lot of prognosticating to do! Luckily we were going to record this weeks episode today anyway!

I’ve noticed that they always release during the summer, which is smart because they know kids (and adults!) will be up all night reading the books, and they don’t want them to be affected by school (or work). But anyway, exciting news!

JULY 21, 2007!!!!!!!! OMG! What a bitter-sweet moment in the HP world! I can’t believe that their releasing the book only a week after the OOTP movie! (My brain is struggling to comprehend the complexity of emotion that I am anticipating!) I mean, I don’t want it to end. What will become of my little HP podcast families when it’s all over and done with???
I’ve come to depend on the world of Potter to get me through my work day! (Sad but true) On the other hand though, I’m also eagerly looking forward to what’s going to happen next! Do any of you think that JKR will tie up all the loose ends, or do you think there will still be enough left open for Prognostications and speculations to carry us for an extended few months/years?

I can’t believe it!!! My friend just called me frantically (I love you, Joye Beth!) And just told me the exciting news!!! Too bad those other guys (::cough:: Mugglecast ::Cough:: were pretty sure that it wasn’t going to be this summer! ::laughs evilly:: I’m excited to listen to the newest pocast pertaining to this wondrous news!!!

I’m answering to Aishel’s comment. Unfortunately it’s much more cynical and less romantic than you think. The reason they come out during the summer is only because of volume in sales. If HP were to come out around the Xmas holidays it would be virtually the only book sold and publishing companies can’t afford such a loss! There’s that many books or money parents can affordand they know it.
