Great to have you back & to have discovered that you're back!
One thought on this first podcast (haven't listened to the others yet):
I agree there is a discernable Christian theme in the books, albeit what I would think of as the more "liberal" strain of Christian theology - e.g., the belief that love and compassion are redemptive and are the most important qualities of the faith. The notion of "love as redemptive" being redemptive may have been what JK was referring to in that early interview.
Anyway, one thing that has occurred to me on this theme is that if there is a Christian theme going on, Harry does not necessarily have to be the "Christ-like" figure, in the sense of the one who dies for the sins of others. People like James, Sirius, Dumbledore, Cedric, and Lilly (especially Lilly, as she seems "innocent", even to her name's connotations) have already died both for love (i.e., to protect others) and also in a sense died for their own and/or each other's "sins". Things got so bad in the first place in part because of "good" people's own bad behavior - James and Sirius' cruelty to Snape and Peter may have backfired, for example, leading to the successes of LV.
It's possible Harry will be left to play not the Jesus figure, but the "good Christian" figure. With people having already sacrificed themselves for the "sins of the past," it may be up to him not to die for past sins, but rather to carry on the "faith" of love and compassion in the real world.
It's funny that Star Wars came up, because this idea is similar to what happens in Star Wars. In SW, it's the older generation (Obie-wan, Vader, some other I think) that ends up sacrificing itself to atone for past mistakes. The younger generation (Luke, and sidekicks Leah and Han) in a sense "fixes" the sins of the past and permit redemption through love and compassion (Luke, who rejects vengeance for love), and offers hope for the future (Han & Leah).
Don't know if that makes any sense, but it's another way I can think of looking at the issue.
My instinct is that Harry won't die - although I wouldn't be shocked if I were wrong and he did.
[As for the "snow globe" idea, which I know Penny was just tossing out there: possible, but unlikely. I've always thought the wizarding world was an allegory for "people who know what's really going on" - i.e., the members of society "gifted" enough through birth, brains, or talent to understand the big picture of the world. A little elitist, maybe, but that's how I see it.]
Sorry about the length of the comment - hope I haven't over-written my welcome!

I really enjoy listening to the podcast. I am looking forward to the next one. During the last two podcast, I had a hard time trying to hear what is going on, so I turn up the volume but it still sounds muffled. But still, keep up the execellent job. Maybe another topic could be Hagrid.
